At 57 km², Blöndulón is one of Iceland’s largest lakes. It was created in 1984-1991 as a reservoir for the Blönduvirkjun power plant, and has a depth of 39 m. It is situated near the Kjölur highland road in the Highlands of Iceland. The hot springs of Hveravellir are situated some 25 km to the south.
Áfangi is located just off the Kjolur route, about 38 km north of Hveravellir, Áfangi Mountain Hut offers clean and comfortable accommodation surrounded with beautiful highland scenery.
Áfangi is a spacious hut that sleeps 32 people in 8 rooms with bunk beds (4 persons in each room). Guests have access to a well equipped kitchen, dining area and a lounge. Bathrooms and shower are shared.
Galtarárskáli is a sleeping lodge in Eyvindarstaðaheiði and is located by Galtará (river) 6 km from Kjölur road when you turn in to Eyvindarstaðaheiði.
The lodge is open from June 15 – August 15.
Galtarárskáli has sleeping-bag accommodation for 32 people in 8 rooms. Guests have access to moderately equipped kitchen, dining area, WC hot showers and a washing machine.
We welcome groups on horses, staples and a fence to hold the horses is available. Rolls of hay is sold on the premises.
Bugaskáli is a highland cabin in Eyvindarstaðarheiði. The cabin accommodates up to 12 persons but large groups must book in advance to reserve. Guests have access to moderately equipped kitchen, dining area and WC.
It is available to go fishing in Adalmannsvatni wich is located next to the cabin.

Ströngukvíslarskáli is a highland cabin in Eyvindarstaðarheiði. The cabin accommodates up to 32 persons but large groups must book in advance to reserve. Sleeping area is in two bedrooms and in same place as dining/livingroom area. One room has bunkbeds for 6 people and the other one has bunkbeds for 16 people, in livingroom are bunkbeds for 10 people. Guests have access to moderately equipped kitchen, dining area and WC.
